“Age is just a number. It’s totally irrelevant unless, of course, you happen to be a bottle of wine.”

― Joan Collins

Are you ready for some vino inside? Only a week has passed since my last post (Part I of the June 2020 Reopening of Wineries in Loudoun County) and Virginia is already moving into Phase 2 of its reopening schedule. Now, restaurants and beverage establishments can allow indoor dining at 50% capacity. Read on to find out how 3 more clusters (18 wineries) in Loudoun County are reopening for visitors like you.

Wineries in Loudoun County: Bluemont Vineyard
A tasting of Loudoun County wine

Where are the wineries in Loudoun County?

Only 30 miles west of Washington, DC, Loudoun County borders the Potomac River, the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley. With rolling hills and lush vegetation, it’s the perfect environment to grow grapes. It’s no wonder that wine-lovers flock to Loudoun County; it provides the most choice in Virginia with 40 vineyards in one county. Leesburg, a wonderful historic town dating back to colonial times, is the perfect place to meet others first because the wineries fan out in various directions from this point.

Is there a map of the Loudoun County Wine Trail?

Yes, Visit Loudoun, the official Convention and Tourism Center of Loudoun County, created a helpful reference tool. The Loudoun Wine Trail Guide provides a wonderful map of the county with each of the 40 vineyards marked and color coded according to its cluster, along with more helpful details.

Do Any of the Loudoun County Vineyards Offer Food and Wine Pairings?

Before COVID-19, food and wine pairings were common, but very few of the wineries in Loudoun County have their kitchens open at this point. See the individual websites for further information.

Are any of the Loudoun County Wineries Family or Pet Friendly?

A number of the vineyards are specifically designed with areas for families and pets. Check the listings below and visit each vineyard’s website to verify their specific rules during this Phase 2 reopening.

What Are the Six Clusters of Loudoun County Wineries?

The 40 wineries are assigned to groups based on the nearest town. The three closest to Leesburg (less than 15 minutes) are: the Waterford Cluster, the Harmony Cluster, and the Potomac Cluster. See my previous Part I post for information on the wineries in those clusters. In this post, I cover the three groups of Loudoun County wineries closer to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains (and more than 20 minutes away from Leesburg) which are: the Loudoun Heights Cluster, the Mosby Cluster, and the Snicker’s Gap Cluster.
